Question
What is the recommended equipment for purchasing a new codec?
Answer
If your school plans to purchase a new codec, NSU E-learning recommends the following equipment. As a reminder, new codecs will also require you to purchase a Zoom Room license. You can find more information by visiting the Zoom Room Licensing article.
Recommended Equipment
- HP POLY Studio X52 AVB - US/Canada English (8D8K2AA#ABA)
- This is the new codec, and is in the form of a video bar that can be placed on top of a TV or mounted to a wall (optional wall mount listed below)
- HP POLY TC10 Touchpanel (875K5AA)
- This is the touchpanel controller for the new codec
- HP POLY Bluetooth Remote Control (2201-52885-001)
- 2 AAA batteries included
- Functions are limited to Mute and Volume control in Zoom Room mode, but is very useful for allowing students to mute and unmute themselves from wherever they are sitting in the classroom
- Note: NSU has noticed the remote needs a few seconds to wake up after not being used for ~10 minutes or more
- OPTIONAL - Wall mount for Studio X52 (875L8AA)
Vendors
There are numerous vendors that provide the above listed equipment. We highly recommend school districts shop around as pricing on the units can vary quite a bit. The cost for the recommended equipment (codec, touchpanel, remote) should be approximately $3900. This does not include the annual Zoom Room license of approximately $500.
