Overview
Scope:
This service is for requesting software and subscriptions that are not currently approved for use at Northern. All software and subscriptions are reviewed for terms of service, specifications, and security prior to approval.
Data Residency Requirement:
If the proposed vendor processes, transmits, or stores any Northern State University (NSU) data outside of the United States, the software will not be approved for use. The requesting department or client must pursue alternative solutions that ensure all NSU data remains within U.S. jurisdiction.
Signing Authority:
Only the Vice President of Finance & Administration has signing authority on legal contracts and agreements.
Legal Review:
If the proposed system is complex or utilizes the most sensitive of data, outside legal counsel will be used.
Expected Timeline:
Review of software will take a minimum of 30 days to approve unless no data is shared with the vendor. Reviews typically take 90 - 120 days for a full review. The use of outside counsel will significantly extend the timeline.
