Overview

VPN is a direct and secure way to connect to Northern's network while off-campus. This allows you to access systems and file storage that are normally blocked.

This includes:

  • Banner
  • Cognos
  • ImageNow
  • Network file storage (F, H, and other drives)

 

Once access is granted, you can connect to the VPN:

  1. Connect to your home's network.
  2. Open Cisco Secure Client.
  3. Enter "vpn.northern.edu" as the address, then select Connect.
  4. Log in with your Northern account.

 

Note: CSA employees are required to have a remote work agreement completed prior to requesting VPN access. The remote work agreement process must be initiated by the employee's supervisor. A completed copy of the remote work agreement must be attached when requesting VPN access.
