Question
How do I set up a speed dial on a Polycom RealPresence Group 300/500/700 codec?
Answer
- Log in to your codec's web interface at the IP address shown on the Home screen on the connected display. After a factory reset, your codec should be as follows for login information:
- Username: admin
- Password: last six digits of the device serial number
- Once logged in, click Manage Favorites.
- In the center of the screen, select Create New Favorite.

- Enter the following:
- In the "First Name" field, enter the name of the class, time, and frequency.
- Example: Span 2 TTH 2:30
- In the "IP Address" field, enter the dial string sent to you by Media Services at Northern State University.
- Example: 144.195.19.161##91819397260#045786#12
In the bottom-right, click Save.

- Click Place a Call.
- In the center of the screen, click Edit (next to "Speed Dial").

- Use the search bar at the top to search for the name of the class (e.g., for "Span 2 TTH 2:30" you may search for "Span 2").
- Once the class shows up in the list, select Add. Note: Once added, it should say "Remove" instead.
- In the bottom-right, click Save.

- On the top-left of the codec web interface, search for "icons".
- Select Show Icons on the Home Screen.

- In the center of the screen, click Speed Dial to open the dropdown.
- Check the box "Enable Speed Dial".
- For the "Maximum Number of Entries", select 25. Note: Only the speed dials you put in will show up.
- Click Save.

The class speed dial you just created should show up in two places:
- Click Place a Call. The speed dial heading should show the name of the class.

- If your codec is not in a call, the name of the class should show up on the Home screen as a large button at the top that can be selected for easy dialing.
You are ready to test the connection if:
- You see your class speed dial.
- You have an active ethernet connection (your codec screen should show an IP Address that isn't all "0"s).
- The K12 Data Center has updated your Zoom firewall rule for codec use.
Please email csel@northern.edu or call 605-626-3410 if you would like to set up a test connection.
