How do I connect my personal device to the wireless network (Wi-Fi)?
Answer
Please read below for your desired device. Registration is valid for 1 year, or until the beginning of the next fall semester.
Note: Agreeing to the SDBOR's Acceptable Use of Information Technology Systems terms is required to use the network.
1. Connect to students-secure.
2. Enter your Northern/Wolves account and password, then select OK.
3. Select Connect.
4. A browser window will open. Read the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Systems and choose that I accept the terms.
5. You are now connected to the wireless network (Wi-Fi).
iPhone
1. Connect to students-secure.
2. Enter your Northern/Wolves account and password, then select Join.
3. Select Trust.
4. A browser window will open. Read the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Systems and choose that I accept the terms.
5. You are now connected to the wireless network (Wi-Fi).
Android Phone
1. Connect to students-secure.
2. Select the following options:
- "EAP Method": PEAP
- "Phase 2 authentication": MSCHAPV2 (some phones do not ask)
- "Identity": Enter your Northern/Wolves account.
- "Password": Enter your Northern/Wolves account's password.
- "CA certificate": Don't validate or Trust on First Use
- "Auto reconnect": On
When you are done, click Connect.
3. If prompted, select Yes, connect.
4. A browser window will open. Read the Acceptable Use of Information Technology Systems and choose that I accept the terms.
5. You are now connected to the wireless network (Wi-Fi).
1. Connect your gaming/media device to nsuguest.
2. On a computer or smartphone - that is already connected to the network - go to Northern's Device Registration page.
3. Sign in with your Northern/Wolves account.
4. You will see a list of all your registered devices. Select Register another device.
5. Enter the MAC Address of your gaming/media device (including the colons), then select Register.
6. You are now connected to the wireless network (Wi-Fi).
