How do I use DegreeWorks to track my academic progress?

Answer

Accessing DegreeWorks

  1. Sign in to Ellucian Experience with your Wolves account.
  2. Under the "Student Profile" card, select View Your Profile.
  3. On the left-hand menu (under your photo), select Degreeworks.

Understanding DegreeWorks

The top of DegreeWorks shows a general overview of your program, major, and GPA.

If you have more than one "Degree", you may change the selection and click Process.
To remove classes you have not completed, uncheck "In-progress classes" and "Preregistered classes" and click Process.

Next, you will see an overview of the requirements for your degree.

Finally, you can see course progress for general education, additional requirements for your degree, and course progress for your degree.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Pre-general education courses (e.g., ENGL-033, MATH-095, READ-041):
    1. Students who place in pre-general education courses should take them during their first year.
    2. These courses do not count towards graduation and have a slightly higher tuition rate (to cover individualized help). However, they do count towards full-time status for financial aid, insurance coverage, and athletic eligilibity (in the first year).
  2. Make sure to follow prerequisite requirements. You will not be able to override prerequisites when registering.
  3. Use the Legend at the bottom of DegreeWorks to understand the different symbols used.
  4. For help, please contact your professional advisor or the Registrar's office: records@northern.edu or 605-626-2012
